Shrewsbury Passion 2020

Friday 10th April 2020

It is with a sad heart that we have taken the difficult decision to cancel The Shrewsbury Passion Play that was going to be held on Good Friday – 10th April 2020.

It comes after the Government announced unprecedented peacetime measures to try to control the spread of the virus, with restrictions on public gatherings, transport and working. Our life is going to be less characterised by attendance at church on Sunday, and more characterised by the prayer and the service we offer to each other each day.

We are hoping, as part of the Shrewsbury Mystery Plays, to have the opportunity in the future, when it is safe to do so to have other religious and secular theatrical performances at different locations around the town.

You can make a real difference this Lent.
Join us as we share witness to Christ’s final hours on Good Friday by joining the team.
We have filled all the principle acting roles, but we are still looking for the following:
Actors
Mary – mother of Jesus
Peter the disciple
John the disciple
Roman Centurion
Two Roman Soldiers
Two Priests
Two Bystanders – male or female
Stewards
To help marshal the event on Good Friday morning
Outreach Team
To help with explaining to the audience on Good Friday morning what is happening and what the meaning is behind Lent and Easter.
Prayer support
It is vitally important that the whole event is based in prayer. Join our prayer team to pray with those requesting prayer during Good Friday morning.
Full training will be provided for the non-acting roles
